Kevin McKeand

Kevin McKeand leads a team for BigCommerce’s strategic business development where he discovers, creates and nurtures partnerships that help grow the platform’s ecosystem and client offerings. During the past year with Bigcommerce, Kevin has guided partnerships with PayPal, Intuit, Facebook, Google, Square and more to success.

Previously, McKeand worked with and invested in a variety of Austin startups, cementing his knowledge and expertise in the space. Most recently, he spent three years as an investor and advisor to Flash Valet, a mobile point of sale and management system for valet services. McKeand served as vice president of strategic partnerships for Tabbedout, a mobile way to pay for tabs, where he grew its merchant base by 500%; he also served as its vice president of sales and as an advisory board member.

Before his work in startups, McKeand honed his business skills in the telecommunications market, notably with AT&T as its vice president of strategic account sales. In this position, he grew the number of AT&T-enabled Wi-Fi locations by 14,000 in less than three years. His team was at the forefront of creating a Wi-Fi solution for consumers to use at hotels, coffee shops, book stores, campuses and healthcare facilities, before Wi-Fi was readily available.

While at Wireless Services Corporation earlier in his career, McKeand’s team created SMS Intercarrier Messaging which allows cellular subscribers to send and receive SMS messages with other carriers, increasing the average SMS messages per subscriber from 5 to more than 150 per month in the U.S.

He received his Bachelor’s of Science from Bellevue University, and was selected to participate in AT&T’s Advanced Management Program, a two week management and leadership program with some of the country’s top university professors. McKeand also completed a leadership program at Harvard Business School focused on driving satisfaction, commitment, and loyalty among both clients and employees.
